Ayush Homestay began as our family home in the village of Choughan, just outside Bir. Over the years it grew into something we love sharing — four well-appointed rooms, home-cooked food, and a terrace that opens straight onto the Dhauladhar.
We're not a hotel and we don't try to be one. There's no front desk, no buffet, no piped music. Instead, you'll meet the family that runs the place, eat with whatever is fresh from the village that morning, and learn a little about how people in Kangra actually live.
Each of our four rooms has been thoughtfully put together — comfortable beds, fresh linens, attached bathrooms with hot water, fast Wi-Fi, and large windows that frame either the green hillside or the snow line in the distance. Everything you need. Nothing you don't.
Bir — the paragliding capital of India.
Bir sits in the Kangra valley of Himachal Pradesh, framed by the Dhauladhar range to the north. Famous for its Tibetan monasteries, tea gardens, and one of the world's best paragliding sites at neighbouring Billing, it's small enough to walk and quiet enough to truly rest.
- Paragliding. Take off from Billing, land at the Bir landing site — 10 minutes away.
- Monasteries. Sherab Ling, Chokling and Deer Park are short drives from here.
- Tea & treks. Walk through Palampur tea estates or trek to nearby waterfalls.
- How to reach. Pathankot (3.5 hrs), Dharamshala airport (1.5 hrs), or Joginder Nagar by toy train.
Treated like family, fed like one too.
Meals are prepared in our kitchen with vegetables from the local market and recipes from our grandmother. Vegetarian by default, eggs on request, and yes — endless cups of chai on the terrace.
